Now in its third decade, the annual Thanksgiving weekend shopping spree continues on Larchmere Boulevard with the Larchmere Holiday Stroll.  Three dozen locally-owned businesses on Larchmere Boulevard will welcome the holiday season with good cheer and nostalgic fanfare, food, merriment, live music and excellent indie shopping. “Larchmere has been an arts and antiques neighborhood for 100 years!,” says Michael Wolf, who started his business on Larchmere 40 years ago, and recently returned to his roots on Larchmere with Wolfs Gallery.

Most of the shops have special offerings, treats and sales to offer during this busy shopping weekend.  Enjoy the hot chocolate and donuts in front of Polished Professionals’ warm fireplace, 10% off the already low prices at Grow Outs, including children’s coats and snowsuits, or purchase one item and get the second at 50% off at Second Home Salon (a new resale shop).  The exquisite gift wrapping is always free at Elegant Extras, and the hot cocoa will be flowing all weekend at Martel Salon.  Menu 6 and Larchmere Tavern will both feature some seasonal specials, and William Frye of the Flying Cranes invites you to “enjoy a pleasant browse and some good food!”  Take advantage of the 20% off sale at Red Lemon or check out Gentleman’s Quarters where “there’s always a sale going on.”  Don’t forget to treat yourself, too; try the MVP Specials at Varsity Sports Barbershop.  Loganberry Books will be decked out in full holiday splendor, with hot cider and cookies, and music by guitar virtuoso Brian Henke on Friday and Saturday 12-2pm.  Loganberry also introduces Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop, a holiday shop with two dozen local artists, fair trade crafts, books, games, and educational toys.

More local artists will be featured at Bazaar Bizarre, the popular indie craft show.  Bazaar Bizarre, not your granny’s craft fair, will feature 2 dozen craftspeople in the vacant 13006 Larchmere space (formerly Wool & Willow). No more mass produced mall stuff! Buy handmade!

The popular Nosh Box food truck will be on the street on Friday, and a doughnut man on Saturday.  Roaming music men may entertain you on the street, because part of the joy of old-timey shopping is to browse the boulevard and encounter the various small businesses here, from antiques to fine dining, barbershops to books, knitting to oriental carpets, and Asian antiquities to painting by the Cleveland School.  Raleigh Corto says  Shaker Square Antiques has been doing Larchmere Holiday Strolls for over 30 years and “invites you in to come in through the festive red doors and warm up while stepping back in history and viewing many fine examples of 18th to early 19th century furniture and decorative arts.”

In addition to the evening hours on Friday and Saturday, many shops will be open on Sunday as well, including Dancing Sheep, Fine Points, John L. Young Inc., Larchmere Oriental Rugs, Loganberry Books, Marc Goodman Antique Mall, Red Lemon, Shaker Square Antiques, Strong Bindery and Wolfs Gallery.

Just one block north of Shaker Square, Larchmere is a rare gem of a boulevard lined only with locally-owned independent businesses.  Shop local with the upbeat vitality and offbeat charm of Larchmere!  Browse the boulevard and discover old-world shopping and award-winning restaurants in your own hometown neighborhood.  Cheers!
