Launch for Cleveland in 50 Maps at Loganberry Books

Book Talk and Launch Party: 7pm, October 16, 2019

Loganberry Books and Belt Publishing announce the official launch party and book talk for Cleveland in 50 Maps to be held at 7pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Loganberry Books at 13015 Larchmere Boulevard, Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Edited by Belt’s associate publisher, Dan Crissman, and created by cartographer and data scientist Evan Tachovsky with illustrator David Wilson, Cleveland in 50 Maps deconstructs the Forest City in surprising new ways. Track the Clinic’s growing east side footprint, year-by-year attendance at the Jake, and the addition of communities to the Cultural Gardens. Find out which local high schools produce the most NFL players and which locations the major presidential candidates visited in 2016. Discover the massive salt mine under Lake Erie and the barricades on the border of Shaker Heights.

Each colorful map brings a new perspective on one of America’s most misunderstood cities and the people who live here. Cleveland in 50 Maps is the perfect book for any Clevelander -- or anyone curious about this place we call home. “The book ends with a call to the citizens of Cleveland. If you want to get involved, the next map of Cleveland is not set in stone, you can shape your city,” says Crissman.

At the launch party Dan Crissman and David Wilson will be on hand to talk about the research that went into this amazing collection, surprises they encountered along the way, and little-known facts sure to delight any local history buff.

This event is free and open to the public. Copies of Cleveland in 50 Maps will be available for purchase and signing by the contributors.
