GLAAWC Author Showcase at Loganberry Books

Loganberry Books announces the second annual Great Lakes African American Writers Conference (GLAAWC) Author Showcase to be held Saturday, September 21st from 12pm to 4pm at Loganberry Books at 13015 Larchmere Boulevard, Shaker Heights, Ohio. This event is part of Cleveland Book Week, sponsored by the Cleveland Foundation and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards.

The Showcase will feature authors of color selling their books and giving readings. Participants include Anisfield-Wolf Fellow Zachary Thomas; Simone Jelks, African American female NBA and NCAA referee, dishing dating advice in How to Date an Ambitious Woman; Clara Jean Mosely, a Native American woman, remembers growing up as the hearing daughter of a deaf father in Paris in America; Ava Reiss, Asian American author of the acclaimed Young Adult fantasy novel, The Fall of Ima, and more than a dozen other writers. Readers will be featured each hour.

The authors participating in the GLAAWC Book Fair showcase explore familiar themes but from perspectives unique to Cleveland and its nearby regions.

Author and educator Charlotte Morgan, who teaches workshops with Literary Cleveland and creative writing at Cleveland State says, “we wanted to promote literacy and give a voice to prose writers around town who aren’t often heard and have never been heard.”

This event is free, inclusive, and open to the public.
