SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH: The Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (NOBS) will hold its 9th annual Cleveland Antiquarian Book & Print Show at The Cleveland Skating Club (2500 Kemper Rd, Cleveland, OH 44120) on Sunday, October 6th, 2019 from 10 AM to 5 PM. From leatherbound books centuries old, to modern gems already out-of-print, to collectible photos, autographs and other ephemera, the Show offers a wide variety of collectibles at all price points. Dealers will include Ann Douglas Paper, Cattermole, Dearly Departed, Doug Milstead, Frogtown, Loganberry, Oldpaperpicker Antiques, Out-of-the-Way, The Toolshed, West Side Book Shop and Wonderland Books.

"I look forward to the Cleveland Antiquarian Book and Paper Show," says Tom Schorgl, retired President of Arts Cleveland (formerly CPAC), "There's always something unique and it's a happy place." All members of the public are encouraged to attend--especially those who don't (yet!) consider themselves collectors. General Admission to the Antiquarian Book and Print Fair is $6; for students, $4. Admission is free for NOBS members.

Preceding the Fair, NOBS will also host a Fine Print Showcase, for the artisan book printers from the Fine Print Book Association at Loganberry Books Annex Gallery (Loganberry Books, 13015 Larchmere Blvd. Shaker Hts, OH, 44120) on Saturday, October 5th, 1-9pm. The event will feature a general fair with items for sale and several artist talks, as well as a reception at 5pm and artist talks at 7pm and 7:30pm.

FPBA Printers who will be showing and selling at both the Fair and Showcase include: Bob Baris of Press on Scroll Road, Emily Hancock of St. Brigid Press, Sue Leopard of Leopard Studio Editions, Mark McMurray of Caliban Press, David Moyer of Red Howler Press, Chad Pastotnik of Deep Wood Press, Abigail Rorer of Lone Oak Press. The Fine Print Fair is free and open to the public.

To help new book collectors prepare for both events, the September NOBS Forum: Book Collecting 101, will be held Thursday, September 26 at 7pm at Loganberry Books, presented by Norman Graubart, proprietor of the Cleveland Book Company (member, IOBA, NOBS, and MWABA). Graubert is a book dealer based in Lakewood, operating out of his home and selling mostly online and at antiquarian book fairs. His talk will cover some basics of how to go about starting a book collection, how to identify a first edition, how to navigate the online marketplace, how best to maintain your books, and red flags to look for when buying books. This Forum is free and open to the public, and bibliophiles of all experience levels are encouraged to attend.
