N.O.B.S. Cleveland Antiquarian Book and Paper Show
Sunday, October 7, 2018, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The eighth annual Cleveland Antiquarian Book  & Paper Show will offer something for everyone: old, rare, and collectible books plus maps, prints and all kinds of paper ephemera.  The location at the Shaker Heights Country Club (3300 Courtland Blvd., Shaker Heights, OH  44122) on Sunday, October 7 from 10am to 5pm, features a beautiful open exhibit room, great lighting, and free parking.  Book dealers from several states will offer for sale delights for book-lovers, scholars, collectors, and browsers in most every field imaginable.

"Book Fairs give me a chance to look at a wide variety of things, some that I know I'm interested in, others I'm not sure about until i pick them up and look at them in person. It's a way for collectors to meet dealers and build relationships, which is an important way to build a collection," says NOBS Member Terry Shockey. Guests of the NOBS Cleveland Antiquarian Book & Paper Show may also bring along a book of their own for a free evaluation a la Antiques Road Show.

Such a wide variety of dealers and books creates the feeling of a paper museum, except everything is for sale! One doesn’t need to be a “collector” to appreciate it either. Some books you may remember from your own childhood, others from English class, and still others from our collective cultural history. Books have been a part of our society for centuries, and have changed surprisingly little. From books centuries old, bound in leather or vellum, to modern gems already out-of-print, the Cleveland Antiquarian Book and Paper Show offers a wide variety of bindings and subject matter. Dealers may specialize in modern first editions of literature, military history, Ohioana, children’s and illustrated books, postcards and ephemera, or beautiful leather-bound sets. There’s a little something for everyone.

The Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (N.O.B.S.) NOBS is devoted to the recognition, dissemination, and preservation of fine and antiquarian books. The organization holds two annual antiquarian book fairs, meets for monthly NOBS Forums (presentations on various book and book-collecting topics), and publishes a quarterly newsletter with articles of interest to members.  Its members hope to broaden public awareness of book collecting and book arts, to stimulate the book trade, and to encourage the scholarly appreciation of publishing history.

The Shaker Heights Country Club is located at 3300 Courtland Boulevard, Shaker Heights, just south of South Woodland Boulevard, and west of Warrensville Center Road.  Admission is $6. Students, $4. Admission is FREE for NOBS members.
