**  Loganberry Books and Indies First  **

Friday, November 25, 10am--8pm
Saturday, November 26, 10am--6pm
Sunday, November 27, 12--4pm

Indies First is a national celebration sponsored by the American Booksellers Association to promote the individual quirks and outstanding dedication to literacy and the power of good books that independent bookstores champion every day. It intentionally falls on Small Business Saturday on the weekend after Thanksgiving, which is the traditional kick-start to the holiday shopping season. This year, Lena Dunham is the official spokesperson and author liaison to the national call-to-action.

At Loganberry Books, we have some wonderful authors lined up for book signings, chats with customers, and their own book recommendations. Here’s the line-up for Saturday, November 26:

11:00-12:00     Tricia Springstubb, Every Single Second
12:00-1:00       Nikki Delamotte, 100 Things to Do in Cleveland Before You Die
1:00-2:00         D. M. Pulley, The Buried Book
2:00-3:00         Laura Wimbels, Faces of Cleveland
3:00-4:00         Joanna Connors, I Will Find You
4:00-5:00         Lauren Pacini, Preserving the Shaker Parklands

Otis' Old Curiosity Shop, Loganberry Books’ pop-up holiday bazaar, is now in its sixth year, and will be in full swing on Indies First weekend (Otis’ Shop opens mid-November and runs through the end of the year).  Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop takes its name from Charles Dickens’ work and Loganberry’s popular feline and is set up in the Loganberry Books Annex Gallery, featuring a mix of local art, fair trade crafts, educational toys, tchotchkes, greeting cards, and vintage curios.  It’s an old-fashioned treasure trove, with hundreds of gifts in all price ranges.

Nothing spells holidays quite like hot mulled cider and cookies, and we’ll have those all weekend long, plus free Indies First tote bags (while supplies last), free surprise books with each purchase, plus a raffle for other free prizes and gifts.  Rounding out the busy weekend, Loganberry will host guitar maestro Brian Henke on Friday, 12:00-2:00pm, and will remain open until 8:00pm.  On Sunday, author Dave Cockley will entertain children and bears at 1:00pm, with games, photos, and his charming books (Those Rockin’ Cleveland Kids is the most recent).

For Loganberry Books, this weekend also coincides with the Larchmere Holiday Stroll.  Established in 1971, the Larchmere Holiday Stroll is a holiday tradition of old-world shopping pleasures: cider and cookies, arts and antiques, classy clothing and hair design, author/artist visits, and charity fundraising amidst the holiday bustle. Traversing Larchmere's 10-block stretch of independent stores will be facilitated by a horse-drawn wagon on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Bring the whole family to enjoy our neighborhood charm.

Looking ahead, on Wednesday, December 7th, Loganberry Books will host its annual Holiday Open House.  Part artist reception for Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop, and part customer appreciation day, our Open House will feature Brian Henke once again (6:00-9:00pm), and a world-class selection of fine cheeses.  Come hang out with us and we’ll help you find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list, and gift wrap them all, too.
