Loganberry Books celebrates
the Alice Sesquicentennial

When Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a.k.a. Lewis Carroll, wrote Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for his child-friend Alice Liddell in 1865, he surely had no idea that the story would have such resonance and reverence 150 years later.  But indeed it does.  Since John Tenniel’s iconic illustrations for the first edition, the book, and its companion Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871), has been illustrated by countless other illustrators in over 100 English-language editions and translated into at least 174 languages.  It has never been out of print.  Numerous celebrations are occurring this year around the globe, including the British Library, the V&A Museum, the Morgan Library, The Grolier Club, the University of Texas and the Rosenbach Library of Philadelphia.  And in Cleveland, Loganberry Books hosts three special Alice events this August. Please come celebrate the Alice Sesquicentennial with us.

An Alice in Wonderland Magic Lantern show

Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 7:00PM

~ third Wednesday NOBS Forums ~

As part of our sesquicentennial celebration of Alice in Wonderland, we'll have a special Victorian Magic Lantern Show presentation, performed by Larry Rakow. Magic lantern technology was used in the late 19th century as a pre-cinema entertainment, with projected images on a screen and a live actor to narrate the story. Larry will perform with original technology and authentic glass slides -- don't miss it!

NOBS is the Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society, which hosts monthly Forums at Loganberry Books on the third Wednesday of the month.
