Loganberry Books Announces their October Literary Line Up

Loganberry Books (13015 Larchmere Blvd.) will host a selection of literary events including poetry and fiction readings, mystery writers and book discussions.

On Sundays in October (October 5, 12, 19, and 26), get into the Halloween spirit with Spectral Sundays, a weekly reading series.   Each Sunday, from 1-3 pm, we'll take turns reading a ghost story aloud, and then have an open discussion of its themes and how and why it scares us. Selections may range from the antiquarian chillers of M.R. James to the more contemporary thrills of Kelly Link.  Moderated by Justin Glanville and Christine Borne.

Wednesday, October 8, Leslie Yerkes local author, will share her passion for books, writing, reading and how to fulfill your dream of writing your own book and getting it published.  Leslie has written almost a dozen books and has a few more in her.  She has been represented by publisher and tried her hand at self-publishing.  She is a founding member and past President of Berrett-Koehler Publisher Authors Co-op, President of Catalyst Consulting Group, and a neighbor to Loganberry Books.  Come from 7-8 pm for a good conversation about books.

On Thursday, October 9, from 7:00-8:00, Loganberry Books hosts the lively and popular Broadsides & Ephemera.   Broadsides and Ephemera is a spoken word showcase of local writers.  This event is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month and is the perfect bookish environment for shaping, sharing and improving your poetry, prose, playwriting and performance art.

On Saturday October 11, from 10:30 to 12 pm children and their parents will be entertained by children’s author and illustrator, James Horvath.  Mr. Horvath will be on hand for a reading, illustration demo and to sign his new book, Work, Dogs, Work: A Highway Tail, staring Top Dog Duke and his busy construction crew.  Horvath is the author-illustrator of two more picture books starring Duke and his construction crew: Build, Dogs, Build and Dig, Dogs, Dig.  He has worked as a designer and illustrator for more than fifteen years. In 2002, he established Jamestoons Studios (with a workforce of one) so he could focus more on his illustration. When not scratching and scribbling at his drawing table, he plays with his two young sons and wife, bangs around on the banjo, surfs, and generally has a lot of fun.

On Saturday October 11, from 2-4 pm, join Cleveland area mystery writers known as Sisters-in-Crime as they discuss mysteries, writing, and the mysteries of writing. Guests will include Shelley Costa (You Cannoli Die Once), Amanda Flower (Andi Unexpected), Kylie Logan (Mayhem at the Orient Express), and Sam Thomas (The Midwife's Tale).
