Larchmere Merchants Celebrate International Women’s Day, March 8,
with Deals and Donations

On Saturday, March 8, shoppers can support Cleveland-area charities and celebrate International Women’s Day simply by patronizing Larchmere Boulevard merchants. Merchants in the district have each selected a local charity or non-profit organization to which they will donate a portion of the day’s sales. In addition, a number of merchants are also collecting non-monetary donations.  Larchmere merchants hope their event will both raise funds for and increase awareness of Cleveland-area organizations that assist women and children, particularly those in crisis.

At the end of the day, shoppers are invited to join the merchants and representatives from some of the recipient organizations at Fiddlehead Gallery (13002 Larchmere ) from 6:00-8:):00 p.m. for an informal review of the day and cocktail party. This unique celebration of International Women’s Day was spearheaded by Susan Rozman of Fiddlehead Gallery and Harriett Logan of Loganberry Books.

The first International Women’s Day observances occurred in 1908. Since that time, it has become an occasion to mark women’s achievements, regardless of country. The United Nations declared March 8 as International Women’s Day in 1975. For 2014, the UN is using International Women’s Day to increase the international community’s commitment to ending violence against women. Larchmere merchants are taking that commitment to the local level with their support of this wide range of charitable and non-profit organizations, each of which is working to improve the daily lives of women and families in Greater Cleveland.

Cleveland’s largest arts and antiques district, Larchmere Boulevard is located one block north of historic Shaker Square on Cleveland’s east side. For more information, call 216-229-8919 or visit www.larchmere.com.
