When a detention center= in Warrensville was being torn down in 2000, it was discovered that it h= eld numerous boxes of stored records, many original blueprints from Cleve= land building projects, that would have been destroyed as well. The City = of Cleveland=E2=80=99s Archivist, Martin Hauserman, recovered the documen= ts and came to be known as =E2=80=9Cthe man who saved Cleveland=E2=80=99s= history=E2=80=9D. The archives hold a treasure trove of documents (the o= ldest dates to 1803): from city blueprints to curious doodles, the collec= tion is open to the public.
