Come celebrate Halloween on Larchmere Boulevard, as many merchants stay open late and pass out a plethora of candy. Here at Loganberry, we have not only candy, but ghouls, ghosts, and a guided tour through our second annual Haunted Bookshop. Beware of moving ladders, literary mash-ups, hidden bookcase doors, flying witches, enormous spiders, and Mathilda working on her potions. 4-6pm for gentle goblins, 6-8pm for robust goblins.

Charlotte Morgan: Our Handmaiden's Tale: Women Writing Memoir & Personal Essays
Saturdays, November 4 and 11, 2017, 10:00AM
In this workshop we will review elements of craft to help women get their power back through memoir and personal essay writing. Bring work that you have already begun, and over the course of two sessions we will help you shape character, story, tension, point of view, plot or other craft issues that may have stalled the completion of your project. You’ll also have a chance to receive valuable feedback from other writers and devoted readers. Instructor Charlotte Morgan uses literary journalism and other forms of non-fiction to write powerful stories about race, gender, and place. She presently teaches in the First Year Writing Department at Cleveland State. Her collection, From Superman to Superfly, will be released next year and her in-progress true crime memoir ​Judgment in Goshen, looks at gun violence. $30 / $25 for LitCLE members.

Join us for the launch of Gerald Sheinfeld's new book, At the Feet of the Spiritual Master: Stories from My Life with Avatar Adi Da Samraj. Chronicling how Cleveland city leaders used imagery and rhetoric to combat and, at times, accommodate urban and economic decline, Souther presents a Cleveland that has long sought to defeat its perceived civic malaise. By placing the city's history in the postwar context, when the metropolitan area was divided by uneven growth, Souther recounts the long, difficult history of a city that some folks call "The Best Location in the Nation."

This month we are screen Preston Sturges' classic Sullivan's Travels. Successful movie director John L. Sullivan (Joel McCrea), convinced he won't be able to film his ambitious masterpiece until he has suffered, dons a hobo disguise and sets off on a journey, aiming to "know trouble" first-hand. When all he finds is a train ride back to Hollywood and a beautiful blonde companion (Veronica Lake), he redoubles his efforts, managing to land himself in more trouble than he bargained for when he loses his memory and ends up a prisoner on a chain gang. Otis' Old Curiosity Shop, Loganberry's popular holiday pop-up shop, will be in full swing, featuring cards, calendars, toys, games, art, and great gift-giving ideas. We will also be celebrating Indies First, a national celebration of independent bookstores and authors. Loganberry will host authors Keith Allen, Marcia Kraus, Laura DeMarco, Ramona Robinson, and Maly Halasa.
