Saturday, September 3rd brings our bi-annual Larchmere Sidewalk Sale.  One last gasp to enjoy the good weather and pick up some great bargains! Many Larchmere merchants will offer discounts and specials for the day, and here at Loganberry, we'll offer 20% off all books, plus a special bag-day sale on the sidewalk.  Who can resist?  

Saturday is also our final day for the Name-that-Author Contest in the front windows.  Try your chance at identifying those 30 faces and win some books!!

Bassist and singer Gene Epstein is a popular Cleveland area string bassist and band leader. Clarinetist and singer Bill Kenney is a virtuosic performer with an irrepressible sense of fun and is an eminent historian with several jazz history books currently in print. Replacing Seth Rosen for this performance is Dave Huddleston, local guitarist with a great warmth and  flexibility to round out the trio. Free cookies will be served. Donations for the band appreciated.

Michael Sangiacomo: Graphic Novels

At this month’s NOBS forum, Michael Sangiacomo will speak about the evolution of the graphic novel, including the highs, lows, and landmarks of this popular format. In addition to writing about comics and graphic novels at The Plain Dealer, he has also written a graphic novel (Tales of the Starlight Drive-In) and a comics series (Phantom Jack) and teaches a course on graphic novels/comics at CWRU.

One of Vonnegut’s most enduring works, Breakfast of Champions is a darkly humorous satire that skewers Middle American values while also looking at war, sex, racism, politics, and pollution.  Join us to discuss this American classic.

Cleveland Antiquarian Book & Paper Show

The Cleveland Antiquarian Book & Paper Show returns to the Cleveland area on October 2nd, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Cleveland Skating Club.  Sponsored by the Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (NOBS), the Cleveland Antiquarian Book & Paper Show will feature thirty dealers, showing and selling books, paper ephemera, autographs, prints, and maps. Additionally, the Show will offer a free appraisal service, where a number of specialist dealers will examine and value single books brought by members of the public. Brunch, as well as a cash bar, will be available in the club’s President’s Suite. General Admission is $5. Student Admission is $3. Admission is free for NOBS members.

Loganberry Books proudly announces our first annual holiday bazaar, Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop. Named for our resident cat and modeled after the Twigbee Shop at Higbee’s Department Store in downtown Cleveland, Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop will contain a mix of new artisan crafts and vintage curios, as well as toys, games, cards and books.  Like the Twigbee Shop, we’ll offer interviews to help you find the perfect gift.  Currently, we are seeking high quality, locally produced artisan gifts.  Check out the website-in-progress or download an Artists Submission Brochure for more information.  The holidays, they are a-comin’!
